re: Montrose

NOTE: Read FBMS in its entirety. Read all but the last two chapters of Auldearn 1645. Both Inter-Library Loans, August 2017. Cover shown for Auldearn 1645 is for the hardcover Praeger edition, link is for the Osprey edition, of which it is a reprint. FBMS was published by Helion, as part of their Century of the Soldier project, focusing on the period of the "Military Revolution." Details of this campaign and lessons learned to possibly be utilized when writing the 4th volume of Shiny New Thing, where our heroine will be at her darkest hour, the end of Act IIB, behind enemy lines, trying to raise an unpopular insurrection, in the name of an unpopular and absentee ruler, without a base of power, depending on foreign mercenaries, uncertain levies, battle-hardened but recently inexperienced semi-retired veterans, and wild, feuding hill tribes. Notes taken aplenty. See next post for supporting material to be read in the future.
